PAINTING SCOTLAND YELLOW

Every month in my mosaic membership I give members an art prompt. In August the prompt was to create something inspired by the conservation campaign ‘Painting Scotland Yellow’. This campaign, organised by The Big Picture Scotland, highlights that Scotland’s native aspen, which is a key component of Scotland’s woodlands, has disappeared from much of our landscape. The hope is that the campaign will result in more aspen growing in Scotland through natural regeneration as well as increased planting.

The mosaics you see below were created in response to this prompt. Some are inspired by the trees themselves, some by the wildlife the trees support, while others are simply inspired by the colours, shapes and patterns observed in the aspen and the landscape.

The mosaic membership is open to people of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. All are welcome and all contributions are equally valued. For more information about the membership and how you can join, click here.
