Mosaic Membership: Free Taster Session
Explore colours and textures in mosaics in this free live session, where I’ll be sharing one of the prompts from my online mosaic membership programme.
This prompt takes inspiration from yarn wrapping, a technique that weavers sometimes use to experiment with designs and colour combinations. We are borrowing this technique to help focus on a few key concepts in mosaic.

My membership programme is one year old!
In March 2023 I publicly launched my online membership programme. Since then over 200 people have been part of my online community, supporting each other to explore different aspects of making mosaics. Every month there is a new prompt to encourage members to try new ideas or techniques.
To help celebrate this milestone, I am inviting you to join me for a free live class.
I’ve selected one of the prompts from within the membership to share with you, and will be running this free session in the same way that I run the monthly sessions within the membership. The session features a presentation to introduce the concepts, followed by a practical demonstration so you can see how to put everything into practice. There will also be time for questions.

Develop your own unique design!
In this session we will start with one of your own photographs for inspiration. This might be a holiday photo, a local landscape, some interesting textures from nature - whatever inspires you!
We’ll review techniques for simplifying the image and explore how to develop a colour palette to use for your mosaic.
We’ll also look at using materials creatively within your mosaic to add interesting surfaces.
Plus, there will be some suggestions for how to extend some of the ideas shared to give yourself an extra challenge!

Anyone with an interest in making mosaics or who is curious about my mosaic membership is welcome to attend. The project is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience.

The prompts in my membership are all designed to be done using whatever materials you have access to, so there is not a prescribed materials list.
However, when you register you will be given a list of suggested materials and resources to help you plan your project.
You are not expected to have any materials ready for the actual event. Most people watch the session and then think about how they want to put the ideas into practice.
