Biodiversity
This piece was made in response to a report on the state of nature in the UK and the threat that reduction in biodiversity poses to our wildlife. The colourful flowers and butterflies at the bottom of the mosaic are gradually replaced by slate/stone, representing changes in biodiversity. Nearer the top there are a couple of pockets of nature, pushing up through the rocks, representing the success of conservation projects. This piece is created on a handmade, undulating substrate.
