Bursting with Colour

Materials: Slate, ceramic tile

This mosaic celebrates diversity by combining the earthy texture of slate with the vivid colours of the ceramic tiles.  The starburst design allows pieces of all shapes, sizes and colours to be combined, radiating outwards with energy and hope. The combination of the two contrasting materials reflects the idea that when we embrace our differences and find a way to include everyone, the result is not only more joyful but more complete.

This mosaic was made for the British Association for Modern Mosaic exhibition, Piece Together, held in Scarborough in October 2025. The ceramic tiles were donated by artist Coralie Turpin.
